Tour di Pompei

The city of Pompeii remained in the exact and precise state in which it was at the time of the eruption, like a photograph with tragic outlines, a real and unique testimony of the time that was, until 1748, when thanks to King Charles III of Bourbon, the first excavations began.

What we can admire today by visiting the archaeological park of Pompeii, which we remember to be Unesco heritage, through organized and guided tours, is exactly the photograph of a Roman city, a surreal and ever more precise vision of the past. Walking in the streets, entering the patrician houses, admiring the paintings on the walls, looking out to the shops of the market, all this is an indescribable emotion, a leap in time to do with respect and admiration.

Entering from Porta Marina, the tour of Pompeii will allow you to have an overview of the city in front of you, it will not be difficult to define this moment: breathtaking! Proceeding through the streets of the city you can see the Forum, the beating heart of the city with public buildings, barns, artisan shops and, the splendid spas.

The temples overlooked the Forum, which are still clearly visible and can be visited today, are those of Jupiter, Venus and Apollo. Continuing, always trying not to hold your breath for a long time, you will arrive at the Casa del Fauno, one of the largest in Pompeii, the Casa di Sallustio, one of the oldest in Pompeii; along the paved streets of the city you will then reach the theaters: the Grande and il Piccolo, splendid examples of an architecture destined to last over the centuries, so much so that even today the Teatro Grande is the venue for events of various kinds. The vegetable garden of the Fugitives deserves a minute of silence and maximum commiseration that everyone should experience in front of the casts of the Pompeians, killed by the fury of Vesuvius.

Just outside the city, the most famous construction of the excavations of Pompeii appears majestic, it is the Villa of the Mysteries, known in the world for its paintings that have come to us almost completely intact. Visitors will not be able to discover the ancient “lupanaro”, a brothel identifiable immediately for the very risque decorations on the facade.

Pompeii should not be left without visiting the Amphitheater and, for the more religious, it is worth stopping at the Cathedral dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of the Holy Rosary, popularly known as the Madonna of Pompeii.
